I recently got diagnosed with Postpartum mood disorder - mild postpartum depression + moderate postpartum anxiety.

Not something I wanted to be diagnosed with, because I didn't want to be seen as a failure.

Postpartum Depression: Feeling sad and hopeless, crying a lot more than usual, moody and irritable, scary thoughts about hurting yourself.

Postpartum Anxiety: Constant worry, feeling like you've lost the old you, tiredness, restlessness, poor appetite and headaches.

My Doctor brought up self care. I kind or chuckled...once you're a mom, what really is self care?

Is it a 5 minute shower? A cold cup of coffee, because you didn't have time to drink it? Is it not washing your hair for 3 days, because you have no time? Is it having to reheat your food, because it got cold taking care of the baby?

Postpartum disorders are real.

Don't be afraid to speak up about your symptoms.

Did you know only 15% of women seek professional help for their symptoms?

Don't be afraid to get the help you need. Never be ashamed.

To the moms struggling, you're not alone. 1 in 7 women experience a postpartum disorder. "This too shall pass"
